A Storytelling and Singing performance of “Τhe Woman of Andros” in the warmth of Plous Bookshop and Cafe.
The story is from the 30’s novel by Thornton Wilder. Ιt was the third-best selling book in the United States in 1930. It is set in the fitcional island of Brynos, around 200 B.C.
Chrysis, a courtesan, has come from Andros to the island of Brynos, establishing herself as a mentor to the young men of the island, educating them in Greek literature and philosophy. Profoundly affected by the dinner parties/symposia given by Chrysis, the young man Pamphilus soon comes to question the meaning of existence, and to ask questions such as “How does one live?” and “What does one do first?”
